Two filamentous cyanobacteria of the genera Scytonema and Tolypothrix were reported to be effective for stabilizing soil in arid areas due to the production of significant amounts of extracellular polysaccharides (EPS). These EPS may also have applications in the biotechnology industry. Therefore, two cyanobacterial species, Scytonema tolypothrichoides and Tolypothrix bouteillei were examined using crossed gradients of temperature (8–40°C) and irradiance (3–21 W m?2) to identify their temperature and irradiance optima for maximum biomass and EPS production. According to their reported temperature requirements, both strains were considered mesophilic. The optimum growth range of temperature in S. tolypothrichoides (27 to 34°C) was higher than T. bouteillei (22–32°C). The optimum irradiance range for growth of S. tolypothrichoides (9–13 W m?2) was slightly lower than T. bouteillei (7–18 W m?2). Maximum EPS production by S. tolypothrichoides occurred at similar temperatures (28–34°C) as T. bouteillei (27–34°C), both slightly higher than for maximum growth. The optimum irradiance range for EPS production was comparable to that for growth in S. tolypotrichoides (8–13 W m?2), and slightly lower in T. bouteillei (7–17 W m?2). The Redundancy Analysis confirmed that temperature was the most important controlling factor and protocols for field applications or for mass cultivation can now be developed.  相似文献

Biocrusts (biological soil crusts) cover open spaces between vascular plants in most arid and semi‐arid areas. Information on effects of biocrusts on seedling growth is controversial, and there is little information on their effects on plant growth and physiology. We examined impacts of biocrusts on growth and physiological characteristics of three habitat‐typical plants, Erodium oxyrhynchum, Alyssum linifolium and Hyalea pulchella, growing in the Gurbantunggut Desert, northwest China. The influence of biocrusts on plant biomass, leaf area, leaf relative water content, photosynthesis, maximum quantum efficiency of PSII (Fv/Fm), chlorophyll, osmotic solutes (soluble sugars, protein, proline) and antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase, catalase, peroxidase) was investigated on sites with or without biocrust cover. Biomass, leaf area, leaf water content, photosynthesis, Fv/Fm and chlorophyll content in crusted soils were higher than in uncrusted soils during early growth and lower later in the growth period. Soluble sugars, proline and antioxidant enzyme activity were always higher in crusted than in uncrusted soils, while soluble protein content was always lower. These findings indicate that biocrusts have different effects on these three ephemeral species during growth in this desert, primarily via effects on soil moisture, and possibly on soil nutrients. The influence of biocrusts changes during plant development: in early plant growth, biocrusts had either positive or no effect on growth and physiological parameters. However, biocrusts tended to negatively influence plants during later growth. Our results provide insights to explain why previous studies have found different effects of biocrusts on vascular plant growth.  相似文献

Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are toxic contaminants with a persistent character and adverse effects on humans and wildlife. Therefore, the deposition of these chemicals in vegetation must be carefully controlled. Our objective was to determine PBDE concentrations (BDEs 28, 47, 66, 85, 99, 100, 153, 154, 183 and 209) in Pleurozium schreberi collected in a heavily industrialized urban agglomeration. High PBDE concentrations in the moss confirm the presence of active sources of atmospheric pollution in an area tested. The distribution of these xenobiotics was related to the vegetation cover being lower in sites surrounded by forests which indicates that PBDEs may have a tendency to be trapped from the air by tree leaves and needles. Congener profiles in P. schreberi were dominated by BDE 209 which was for 79% (in case of the coke smelter) to 95% (in case of the chemical plant) part of the total PBDE burden in this moss. The principal component and classification analysis classifying the concentration of PBDEs in P. schreberi allowed us to distinguish the pattern of these compounds characteristic for the origin of pollution. P. schreberi may be used as a bioindicator for PBDEs in areas contaminated with these chemicals.  相似文献

以腾格里沙漠东南缘天然植被区由藻类、藓类结皮所覆盖的土壤和流沙为研究对象,采用原状土室内培养法,在15和20 ℃两个温度、10%和25%两个湿度下连续培养20 d,分别在培养后的第1、2、5、8、12、20天连续测定土壤样品中的NO3--N含量,探讨不同温度和湿度条件下荒漠土壤的净硝化速率在干旱过程中的变化规律.结果表明: 藓类结皮的NO3--N含量(2.29 mg·kg-1)高于藻类结皮(1.84 mg·kg-1)和流沙(1.59 mg·kg-1),3种类型的土壤净硝化速率介于-3.47~2.97 mg·kg-1·d-1之间.10%湿度条件下,藻类和藓类结皮在25 ℃下的净硝化速率比15 ℃分别减少75.1%和0.7%;25%湿度条件下,分别减少99.1%和21.3%;15 ℃、10%湿度条件下藻类和藓类结皮的净硝化速率比25 ℃、25%湿度条件下增加193.4%和107.3%.表明在全球变暖背景下,无论土壤湿度增加或减少,干旱过程中的荒漠生物土壤结皮-土壤系统净硝化速率在一定程度上都会受到抑制.  相似文献

 齿肋赤藓(Syntrichia caninervis)作为典型的耐旱藓类, 广泛分布于世界干旱和半干旱荒漠地区, 是古尔班通古特沙漠生物土壤结皮中的优势藓类植物。该沙漠冬季具有稳定的降雪, 初春的积雪融化为植物的生长提供了良好的水热条件。荒漠藓类植物叶片仅具一层细胞, 对外界环境的变化十分敏感, 有关荒漠藓类植物在冬季和早春地表冻融交替过程中如何适应环境剧烈变化的研究鲜见报道。该研究探讨了生长于3种不同微生境(活灌丛、枯死灌丛和裸露地)下的齿肋赤藓, 经由冬季低温冻结到早春融雪复水再到春季中旬自然干燥过程中的生理生化变化特征。结果表明: 不同冻融期、微生境及二者的交互作用能够显著影响齿肋赤藓的渗透调节物质(游离脯氨酸、可溶性糖、可溶性蛋白)含量、丙二醛(MDA)含量、抗氧化酶活性(过氧化氢酶(CAT)、过氧化物酶(POD)和超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)活性)。冬季低温冻结期的极端低温和春季中旬的干燥环境使得齿肋赤藓可溶性糖和MDA含量, 以及3种抗氧化酶活性均显著高于早春融雪期, 可溶性蛋白含量显著低于融雪期。同时, 在融雪期灌丛遮阴所形成的“冷岛效应”使得生长于灌丛下的齿肋赤藓植株可溶性糖和MDA含量显著高于枯死灌丛和裸露地。但灌丛的存在也为春季中旬干旱无雨期齿肋赤藓提供了一个相对良好(含水量高)的生活环境, 其下齿肋赤藓的渗透调节物含量和抗氧化酶活性均显著低于其他两个生境。在整个冻融过程中裸露地齿肋赤藓的3种抗氧化酶活性均显著高于灌丛下, 这可能是由于生活于裸露地的苔藓有更强的耐胁迫特性。  相似文献

【背景】跨膜转运蛋白在微生物转运各种物质的过程中具有重要作用。【目的】通过比较原核微生物组磷酸转移酶(phosphotransferasesystem,PTS)系统和腺苷三磷酸结合盒(ATP-binding cassette,ABC)转运蛋白编码基因在两种不同生物土壤结皮中(藻结皮与藓结皮)的差异,以期揭示随着生物土壤结皮的发育演替,微生物组跨膜转运物质的生物学过程中的潜在变化趋势。【方法】对腾格里沙漠东南缘的藻结皮和藓结皮12个样品进行宏基因组测序,参照KEGG数据库PTS系统,与ABC转运蛋白代谢通路进行比较并筛选相关基因,分析其差异显著性。【结果】藻结皮和藓结皮PTS系统和ABC转运蛋白编码基因的多样性一致。在生物土壤结皮中共检测到16种PTS系统的转运蛋白的编码基因,具有显著性差异的有5种;检测到106种ABC转运蛋白的编码基因,具有显著性差异的有46种,并对这46种转运蛋白结合的底物以及变化趋势进行了详细的描述。【结论】生物土壤结皮发育演替过程中,微生物组从环境中摄取能够增加渗透势物质的潜力总体呈现降低趋势,转运氨基酸、细胞膜和细胞壁组分的潜力总体呈现增加趋势,对于矿物离子、辅助因子、糖类和碳酸氢盐等的转运潜力总体无明显变化。需要注意的是这些转运蛋白编码基因多样性及差异与生物土壤结皮的关系还有待实验证明与解释。  相似文献

水分是荒漠植物生长最主要的限制因子,藓类结皮作为荒漠土壤表层重要覆被物,对土壤水分蒸发入渗具有重要影响。研究表明,在全球气候变化背景下,不确定的降水格局变化导致结皮层藓类植物出现集群死亡现象,但这一过程对荒漠地表土壤水分蒸发与入渗过程的影响及其机理尚不清楚。以古尔班通古特沙漠齿肋赤藓结皮为研究对象,利用便携式渗透计和蒸发仪,研究了结皮层藓类植物死亡对土壤水分蒸发与入渗的影响。结果表明,与裸沙相比,藓类结皮的存在显著抑制了水分入渗,而藓类植物死亡的结皮层抑制作用最大,其初渗速率、稳渗速率和累积入渗量分别是活藓类结皮的39.89%、85.91%及64.48%,仅为裸沙的5.96%、13.13%及20.42%。在水分蒸发初期,裸沙的水分蒸发速率明显高于活藓类结皮和藓类植物死亡的结皮层,但藓类植物死亡的结皮层维持相对稳定的蒸发速率的时间长于裸沙和活藓类结皮,这也导致最终累计蒸发量以藓类植物死亡的结皮层最高、裸沙最低。可见,荒漠生物土壤结皮中藓类植物死亡会明显减少土壤水分入渗、增大水分蒸发,进一步影响荒漠表层土壤水分格局,从而影响生物土壤结皮与维管植物的水分利用关系。  相似文献

Irregular tube-shaped microfossils incertae sedis are a typical constituent of Late Jurassic shallow-water reefal carbonates of the Northern Calcareous Alps of Austria and are described in open nomenclature. The enigmatic, polymorphous spar-filled tubes with neither observable external nor internal skeletal elements occur either free within peloidal sediments or mostly fixed to skeletal substrates embedded in microbial crusts including the genera Labes Eliášová, Crescentiella Senowbari-Daryan et al . or Isnella Senowbari-Daryan. The tubes are varied in shape and closely resemble different taxa of sponges. As the microbial crusts preferentially occur associated with these tubiform microfossils, this association is suggested to be non-parasitic and mutualistic. Without the surrounding crusts, the existence of these animals would have been masked or perhaps even totally lost in the fossil record expressing the importance of these findings as a characteristic element in the inventory of Late Jurassic reefal biocoenoses.  相似文献
